Snell Isle

Traffic Calming Plan

Client:

City of St. Petersburg, Florida

Background:

Working together with City staff from a proposed master plan ADEAS-Q was tasked to evaluate a traffic calming plan within the Snell Isle neighborhood. The purpose of the evaluation was to develop a progressive strategy that meets neighborhood priorities with minimal maintenance requirements. Several different alternatives were evaluated for effectiveness, cost, constructability, maintenance, and aesthetic quality. Attached chicanes with a traversable median were selected as the preferred alternative by the neighborhood association. These improvements were designed and then later installed by the City.

Services:

  • Alternatives development and design
  • Preliminary cost estimates
  • Reduction of free-flow speed for pass through traffic
  • Long-term maintenance considerations
  • Storm-water runoff and drainage within existing system
  • Public acceptance and endorsement
