City of Naples

Siesta Key Transportation Study

Client:

City of Naples, FL

Background:

Eighth Street in downtown Naples had long been known as a cut-through route by local residents to avoid potential congestion from parallel US 41. However, the problem was that cut-through traffic would frequently speed at 40+ mph through this business and residential neighborhood.

ADEAS-Q teamed with Grady-Minor to develop a multimodal complete street that reduces speeding, but also does not limit capacity between 7th Avenue North and 5th Avenue South (“Main Street”). Various traffic control and design options were evaluated and presented in a pro/con format easy to understand for stakeholders. Ultimately, a full reconstruction of 8th Street along the study corridor was approved per the project team recommendations, and Phase One is currently under construction.
